About NAEYC

Accreditation

CUMNS KIDS is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This is the only professionally sponsored nationwide program of accreditation for childcare, pre-school and school-age childcare programs. Programs are evaluated on 150 criteria in 10 areas.

Dr. Susan Bredenkamp, accreditation director for NAEYC, says, "The high quality programs that we accredit are ones where loving and specially trained caregivers emphasize activities appropriate for the age of the children and where all aspects of development - social, emotional, physical, and intellectual - are equally emphasized."

CUMNS KIDS first received our accreditation in June 1988 after a year of self-study, evaluation and on-site inspection. It has been re-accredited every five years since. CUMNS is presently accredited until June 30, 2017.

If you would like more information about NAEYC accreditation, please visit their website or check out our NAEYC standards board near the entrance of our school.

NAEYC Accreditation helps ensure that our school maintains high standards to help each child reach his or her full potential.
